Nani Moves Closer to United Exit

Manchester United’s Portuguese winger Nani’s future looks extremely bleak at the club after it recently emerged that he was involved in a training ground bust up with Davide Petrucci, United’s Italian midfielder. According to reports in various sections of the media, the United first team were training with the reserve team and during that training, the feisty young midfielder lunged into a challenge on Nani. The 25 year old did not take the challenge too kindly and there was an altercation between the two on the training ground at Carrington as well.

The two had to be separated by their teammates on the training ground. However, that proved to be just the beginning as the Portuguese international called the youngster over during the gym session. The other players who were present in the gym at that time thought that the senior player would do the right thing by talking it out with the youngster and straighten things out. But that did not prove to be the case and the United players were stunned to see Nani landing a punch on Petrucci.

The other players quickly separated the two before things got out of hand but by that time, the damage had been done. Nani has cut an extremely frustrated figure at Old Trafford in the early parts of the new season, hardly making any impact on the pitch and making the headlines off it, and that too, for all the wrong reasons. He figured for United in their first match of the season against Everton and was shown a yellow card in only the second minute of the match. Even in the team’s last match against Liverpool, Nani was so frustrating that manager Sir Alex Ferguson hauled him off at the break.

Nani was seen sulking on the bench when the cameras caught up with him, looking visibly disgusted. United have been trying to ship him off to another club since the beginning of the new season and even accepted a £ 25 million offer for the player from Zenit Saint Petersburg, only to have the player price himself out of a move with extravagant wage demands.

The Portuguese international, who was signed from Sporting Lisbon back in 2007, first as a partner for Ronaldo and then expected to fill in his shoes after his departure, Nani has failed to reach the heights that everyone expected. Although he has dazzled in moments, most of the times, Nani has been a very frustrating player over the years for The Red Devils.

And now, with news of this training ground bust up emerging, it is being believed that Sir Alex will sell him at the first opportunity, having grown frustrated of his tantrums and lack of performances on the field. United already have two fine wingers in Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young and Nani is already feeling the pinch, having to spend the majority of his time on the bench, and if he is smart enough, he will also leave if there is the chance.
